According to police sources, the incident took place around 1 am when Ratan Lubana, a relative of a local BJP leader, was coming out of a club in Sector 5. The assailants, who were allegedly waiting outside, opened fire at him. Eyewitnesses reported that around 10 to 12 rounds were fired at the spot, and the victims attempted to flee, but the attackers continued shooting. Ratan Lubana suffered a bullet injury to his abdomen, while another person sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Both injured men were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6 and were later referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh, after receiving primary treatment. Following the incident, the police control room alerted all crime branch units across the district, and police teams immediately launched a chase after the suspects, who were fleeing on a motorcycle.
Arrest of Accused
The pursuit continued up to the Ramgarh area, where police attempted to intercept the suspects. Despite repeated warnings to stop, the accused allegedly opened fire on the crime branch teams. In the ensuing exchange of fire, both suspects were shot in the leg before being overpowered and arrested. The arrested accused have been identified as Harpreet (18), a resident of Hoshiarpur in Punjab, and Jaswinder, a resident of Jagraon in Punjab.
Both accused have been admitted to a hospital for treatment and are currently under police guard. Sources claimed that the two shooters are suspected to have links with the gang of notorious gangster Rohit Godara, although police have not officially confirmed any gang affiliation so far.
